Castlebar mini rugby registration Registration

for the upcoming mini rugby season will take place at the clubhouse from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursday next September 6. Kiltoom girl Orla Shine is making waves in the dance world, having won a place on a prestigious dance project. The 24-year-old from Moyvannion, Kiltoom is one of just six Irish students to secure a place on the Step-Up Dance Project currently being held at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick.

University of Limerick will be running a fitness instructor course in Galway for people who would like to train to become a fitness instructor or personal trainer. The certificate in exercise and health fitness is awarded by the University of Limerick and is the only university accredited fitness qualification in Ireland.

Mayo girls go for glory

Today, Friday June 29 the Mayo under 16 girls squad will arrive at the University of Limerick to take part in the 2012 Gaynor Cup. The journey began way back in October 2011 when open trails were held and the best talent from around county arrived in Milebush Park to show what they could do. An initial squad of 30 girls were chosen and they competed in games against Clare winning 9–0, Ballina Town u18 girls losing 2–1 and a Connacht selection winning 3-1. After this they headed to Sligo and came out on top 3–1. Then finishing up the preparation was a double-header playing Galway and Sligo winning 2–1 and 2–0 respectively.

Two Mayo firms featured in new book on responsible Irish businesses

Two Mayo firms are featured in a new book examining Irish experiences of corporate social responsibility. Corporate Social Responsibility – A Guide, with Irish Experiences profiles eight Irish firms including KPS Colourprint from Knock, and Blackfield Coffeeshop and Surf School from Achill Island. Both are described by the author, Dr Sheila Killian of University of Limerick, as examples of good practice in different aspects of CSR.
